last minute preparations

It never seems to matter how good my intentions are, things always end up waiting until the last minute to get done. For the past two months I’ve been meaning to paint some letters for the girls’ room that my mom bought them when they were in NC last October (Jordan’s spell out J-BIRD and Natalie’s spell NAT). Of course, I waited until the last minute and was up at the crack of dawn on Sunday (since that’s the only time the heat index isn’t 95+) to paint them with primer and then two coats of paint and give them enough time to dry. With the humidity averaging around 70%, things apparently take a bazillion years to dry! They turned out great and Lee and I will be hanging them tonight (wish us luck!) Why I didn’t do them sooner, I’ll never know. I guess I’m just a procrastinator at heart!

As many of you know, the reason for me running around like a chicken with its head cut off is because Lee and I are making the 12 hour trek to NC on Thursday so we can pick up the girls on Friday morning! We are so excited and there seems to be a million things that need to get done before then. The biggest thing is that I’m hosting this month’s bunko tomorrow night. Yep, I agree, I must be crazy!!!! For the past week, Lee and I have been running around trying to get everything done. I’ve spent the majority of today cleaning so the girls can come home to a clean house and arguing with our brand new washing machine so Lee and I will have clean clothes. Apparently, it isn’t happy for some reason and I’ve yet to determine the source of its agitation. After all my trial and error, I think one of the hoses may be clogged but I need Lee’s help in seeing if that’s it or not. Sure do hope he gets home soon! Needless to say, I’ve had a relatively busy and frustrating day. Can’t wait for all the preparation work to be done so I can just enjoy our company tomorrow night and look forward to seeing the girls!

All in all, things are going very well. We’re just busy getting everything ready and anxiously awaiting Friday morning when we get to see the girls!!!!! I promise to post some pics once they get here.

Time for me to run and finish cleaning the kitchen, as well as attempt to fix the washing machine again! Sure do hope Lee knows a thing or two about washing machines! Also have to go get my list ready for tomorrow’s menu (I get to feed 12 women – dinner & dessert!!) Wish me luck!!!!!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

You will do fine after a SMALL bit of stress and then everything will turn out GREAT> You are a great hostess and they will find that out. If you didn't stress a little then it wouldn't work. Good luck on that washing machine. That is a real pain to have to go on the blitz especially at the last minute. I am REALLY looking forward to the pictures of the girls. Travel safe.

You must put pictures of your work with the letters on the blog!! Can't wait to see them. I'm so glad you are getting the kids for some fun. They will love your new home and they will have a blast - especially in your neighbor's pool!! Have fun and hug everyone for me - you and Lee are special to me.
